booking your newborn session It is never too early to book a session and it is best to book your session while you are still pregnant (ideally in your second trimester). I tend to start booking 6 moths in advance so to avoid disappointment try to book as soon as possible. I usually book mums in on their due date and the once bubs arrives we schedule the session for when baby is between 5-14 days old. As soon as bubs arrives contact me ASAP (within the first 48 hours) and we will organise the session date. When scheduling, it is very important to have the shoot within the first 5-14 days. During the first 14 days babies are more curled up and sleep easily while being moved around. After 14 days, newborns tend to develop things like colic and baby acne, they also tend to be more alert and stay awake longer. After we have scheduled the session, we need to discuss what you would like from your photo session. We can work out colours, poses etc…

In studio posed sessions are the perfect choice if you want the focus to be on your precious baby. These type of sessions require more time and can even take up to 4 hours. I will aim to make your baby as comfortable as possible and will not rush anything. My studio is a very clean environment and I custom design each setup to suit you and your new arrival.

$150 non-refundable deposit is needed to secure your session. The balance of the collection is then due on or before the day of the session. Extra gallery images can be purchased for $45 per image file.

Payments can be made online via credit card and bank deposit but can also be paid on the day in cash or via credit card.
preparing your baby Please be aware that I recommend trying to schedule bubs feed for when you arrive at the studio (I know this can be hard so only if you can). Please dress your baby in something loose and that is easy to take on and off. It’s not necessary to bring any clothes for the baby as newborn babies are best photographed naked or adorned in simple props that I provide.
newborn session time Studio session can take up to 4 hours as its completely led by baby. You & your baby will not be rushed. We will take breaks to feed, change, and to cuddle bub whenever it becomes necessary. Maybe throw a few snacks into your bag incase the session runs on the long side and you get a bit hungry.
newborn session safety My number one priority with newborn photography is “Safety First ” Your little bundle will always be treated with the highest level of care, with heated rooms, padded changing mats and plenty of time for feeding and cuddles. I do not use props or poses that put your baby at risk of harm.

The baby will sleep best if it is fed right before the session and if the room is warm (30 degrees) so be aware of this and dress in layers. What we want is for your baby to be nice and warm…and that’s really all that matters!

During the studio session I will be photographing your baby on my bean bag and in a variety of props that suit the style and colours you love. I have a wide variety of props sourced from all over the world so you don’t have to worry abut a thing. If you have a special something you want used as a prop feel free to bring it along and we will try and incorporate it into your session. Accidents happen so if I get peed or poo’d on or my props do, please don’t worry about it! It’s all part of my job and it wouldn’t be the first time it’s happened!
family photos with baby Mum & Dad you are a big part of the show. Photographing the connection between you and your baby is one of my all time favourite things. I usually suggest either black, white or grey clothing for family photos as it is classic and timeless but really anything neutral without writing or logos works great.

Dads: I ask that you bring a tight fitting t-shirt or a wrinkle free shirt to wear with a good, snug pair of jeans. Shirtless photos are always a favourite as well.

Mums: loose-fitting tank tops and Singlets work best. Keep the colour neutral and design simple. Be sure that if you have on nail polish that is free from chips as your hands will make their way into the images.

Including older brother/sister(s) in your newborn’s portraits is the perfect way to document this fleeting time in your lives. As with the parents neutral clothing with no writing or logos works best.
after the newborn session After the session I will typically post a sneak peek on Facebook within 72 hours. I will carefully select and proof edit your images and upload the photos to your own password protected gallery where you can view and choose your favourites (usually within 7 days). The online gallery will remain active for 2 weeks. I then take your favourite photos and do the final retouching. I will remove stray hairs, dry skin, blemishes and fix skin tones. Most galleries are completed within 3 weeks of the final image selections.

Orders can take anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks depending on the type of products you order. I will contact you to let you know when your order is ready and to arrange a time for the order to be delivered to you.
