AMELIA
Sweet little baby Amelia was only 5 days old when she came into the studio for her newborn session. Amelia is just as cute as can be and gave me lots of gorgeous baby smiles while having her photo taken with Dad which I think are totally adorable! I got to use my brand new cream wood floor during Amelia’s session and I have to say I love it! I’m so happy to be able to offer both bright and light photos on the cream floor as well as my signature dark and moody photos on my dark wood. I think my favourite photos of Amelia’s session are the ones of Amelia in the pink drawer. I have had that drawer for about a year but for one reason or another I have never gotten around to using it. I cant believe I waited that long to use it because it photographs beautifully. After the session I asked Apple, Amelia’s mum some questions about Amelia’s birth and her newborn photo session…
How did you find out you were pregnant? Do you have a story to tell?
I have a polycystic ovary syndrome which is a common hormone disease. So it is not easy to fall pregnant due to irregular ovulation. I found out that I have it after trying to conceive for over a year and nothing works. And we consulted a fertility doctor. Luckily we didn’t have to resort to IVF because I responded well with medications. On the early hours of Oct 21,2017 I took a home pregnancy test and it showed a positive result. Surprised my husband that morning and both of us were in tears.
How did you announce your pregnancy?
I didn’t have a huge announcement. I was too excited. They said to announce it once I’m at least 12 weeks, but couldn’t wait. I told our family and close friends straight away.
Did you have any weird cravings or experiences during your pregnancy?
I was lucky not to experience any morning sickness. I was craving for porridge.
How did you find out the baby’s gender, before the birth or was it a surprise?
I found out before the birth. I asked my close friend Jo to open the envelope with the gender written inside by the technician. And I had a gender reveal ceremony with my closest friends and family. We popped a big black balloon and inside were pink confetti.
How did you pick out your baby’s name? Is there a special meaning behind the name?
I dreamed about it. I dreamed I was having a baby girl and her name was Amelia.
What hospital/birthing centre did you use? What was was your experience like?
I gave birth at Lyell McEwin Hospital. The midwives who looked after me were amazing. I felt like I was really supported every step of the way.
What is the one thing you will never forget about the birth of your baby?
I will never forget the time I met her for the very first time. I was in tears. I was very emotional. This is the time I have been waiting for all my life and finally it has come. It is definitely worth the wait.
Do you have any favourite baby shops or baby products?
I like to shop online because I can do it anytime and even if I’m just at home. My favourite online shop is Carters/ Oshkosh Australia.
Do you have any hints or tips for new mums and dads?
I’m also new to this parenthood. One thing I’ve learned in this first two weeks is to PERSEVERE.
What was the most memorable part of your newborn session?
The most memorable part was when Hubby carried Amelia and she smiled while being photographed. She smiled for a good 10 seconds. It was captured beautifully.
What are some of your favourite photos from the session?
It is so difficult to pick favourites. All photos were amazing.
Why did you decide to have newborn photos taken?
We wanted to create beautiful memories with our little one. So we decided to have photos taken by a professional photographer.
Why did you choose Megan Macdonald Photography to capture your memories?
I was searching for a newborn photographer in Adelaide and I found out about her on Instagram. I loved all her posts and stories. Her photos are the kind of photos I envision to have for my dear Amelia.
Did you enjoy your experience and would you recommend Megan Macdonald Photography in the future?
Absolutely. One of the best decision we’ve done is choosing her to capture our memories. I would highly recommend her.
